Scout Fundraisers

2018 Annual Prime Rib Dinner and Auction

This even is over, but next year is coming.    It is our biggest and most fun funraiser of the year.  In 2018 we moved the event to the Mat Su Career and Tech High School where we could serve more people, more prime rib, and more auction items. Plus, the Culinary department at Career and Tech was super supportive by offering to do most of the prepping, cooking, and kitchen cleaning, thereby giving their students a real educational experience.

All scouts and their parents are always needed to help by soliciting donations of auction items or dinner supplies and food items.  Below are some donation request forms and a flier we used in 2018, and which we will use again in 2019.    The key it to talk to the community and take donation orders.

Sell Popcorn

Scouts can raise money for BSA AND help themselves fund scout activities, like summer camp.
Parents, we are in need of a Popcorn Colonel.    Our next popcorn sale opportunity will be in the fall of 2019.

Sell Coffee

TROOP 300
COFFEE SALES INFORMATION

Sell locally roasted Kaladi coffee by the pound to raise funds for scout activities, like summer camp and other adventures.  Inquire at the next meeting.

COFFEE SALES OPPORTUNITY:
(OPEN FUNDRAISER OPPORTUNITY)
Troop 300 has been approved to sell Kaladi Coffee as a fundraiser for our scout troop.  We sell premium Kaladi brand coffee for the same price it is sold in town at retail stores everywhere.   However, we order the coffee after a Monday troop meeting, and it is roasted over the following weekend.   Scouts pick up the coffee that they ordered on the previous Monday at the next troop meeting, and deliver the fresh roasted coffee directly to their customer.   This opportunity is completely voluntary.   You don't have to do it, but it is an opportunity if you want to.   Potentially, it can significantly reduce the costs associated with scouting, and perhaps even let some scouts go on trips they otherwise might not be able to afford.   Here is how it works:

STEPS TO SELL COFFEE:
1.  Download a coffee sales form.  You need one for each customer's order.
2.  Find a customer and have them pick out their choices.  Collect the money, put it in an envelope, and staple it to the filled out form.
3.  Check to make sure the form has been filled out correctly, and they have indicated if they want it 'ground' or "whole bean" and everything is readable.
3.  Turn in the order and the money at the next troop meeting.
4.  At the next troop meeting the following week, pick up your coffee, and deliver it to your customer(s) as soon as possible.   This step is critical---if a person orders coffee from you their expectation is you will deliver them fresh coffee, so you need to do so in a timely manner.  In no case can you take longer than the weekend after the Monday night troop meeting.

FINE PRINT:  Scouts who fail to pickup their coffee ordered on time, or who fail to deliver it to their customer by the weekend it was promised, will lose the right to sell coffee in Troop 300.  If something prevents you from making a troop meeting where you have coffee to pick up, get someone to pick it up for you.  It is imperative that we satisfy the customers that have purchased a product from this Troop.

REWARDS FOR SELLING COFFEE:
You can earn money to help defer the cost of your scouting.
For every pound of coffee a scout sells, the troop will add $2 to his scout account, and those funds are his to use for any troop outing or activity.   As an example, if you find just 5 people who will purchase a pound of coffee from you per week, you would make $40 into your scout account every single month.    Most of our regular monthly campouts are $15-$20, so not only would you have money for your monthly camps, but at the end of a year you would probably have saved enough to cover most of summer camp as well.    Needless to say, this is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY and it is ONLY AVAILABLE IN TROOP 300!
