July 24-26.

For our most capable scouts, the PLC opted for a July two-night three-day trip to Caines Head, in Seward. Caines Head Trail is a 14 mile out and back trail that features a lake, waterfalls, and a World War II bunker, and is rated as “moderately difficult.” The trip must be planned around the tides, because there is a three mile stretch of beach between Tonsina Point and North Beach that can only be hiked during low tide. We have set July 24-26 for this adventure, and the Assistant Scoutmaster in charge of this event is Don Thomson. The plan will be to leave the trailhead two hours before a 3+ high tide to avoid becoming stranded along the way.
