A three day-two night backpacking trip through Johnson Pass. We have set July 24-26 for this adventure, and the Assistant Scoutmaster in charge of this event is Anthony Pillittier. This is set to be a three day two-night adventure, and is open to any scout in the troop who has the ability to carry a backpack. Johnson Pass is a 23 mile trail that is well marked and goes through a lush pass in the Kenai Mountains. It features two very gradual climbs, two lakes with fish, spectacular peaks and some very cool gorges. It is normally lightly traveled, and has seven camping areas. Having hiked Johnson Pass myself, it is a wonderful scouting adventure that is stunningly gorgeous and is much less difficult than many other pass trails. The specific details for this trip, including the proposed budget, will be announced at the troop meetings as details are finalized.
